Site visit for a new project in Sydhavn

We are designing a new single-family home in the old fishing harbour of Sydhavnen. As part of the process, we have been documenting the existing conditions, materials and details that give the area its distinct character.

Small sheds, self-built houses and an eclectic mix of materials often sourced from what was at hand sit alongside traces of the working harbour.

It is an informal environment, shaped gradually by use, necessity and adaptation over time.

For us, understanding these qualities is an important starting point for designing something new that belongs to the place.
